It has also increased House Rent Allowance (HRA) and also hiked tax exemption limit for gratuity. After a four per cent hike, the DA has reached at 50 per cent. It also increased the tax limit for gratuity from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. 7th Pay Commission: The central government on Thursday evening announced an increment of four per cent in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR), which has now increased from 46 per cent to 50 per cent Alongside that, Centre also announced an increase in the tax exemption limit of gratuity. The central government employees don't have to pay any tax up to Rs 25 lakh gratuity. The earlier limit for the same was Rs 20 lakh.

Employees are eligible to receive their gratuity only after completing five years in an organisation or a company. An employee is also eligible for gratuity in case of his death, under certain circumstances.
