Stock market today: The midcap and small-cap indices, too, traded with impressive gains. At the close, the S&P BSE MidCap index stood at 39,968.43, up 646.31 points, or 1.64 per cent, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index ended at 44,454.63, up 2.98 per cent or 1,288.29.

Liquor stocks: Recently, the Motilal Oswal Fund bought a stake in Global Spirits. FIIs holding in United Spirits rose to 15.92 per cent from 15.38 per cent in the June quarter. In the same period, FIIs holding in Sula Vineyards rose to 6.78 per cent from 5.86 per cent.

Continuing its surge since quarter four results were announced, Globus Spirits shares spurted 53 per cent in the last five sessions from Rs 382 per share on June 14, 2021 to today’s day high. The stock zoomed 10 per cent to hit a new record high of Rs 584 per share on the BSE intraday trade on Friday.
