There are a total of 90,800 MBBS seats in the country, out of which only 45,000 medical seats are affordable. 1 Semester/annual fee is at least between Rs 1-3 lakhs. The fees for government medical colleges ranges between 1-3 lakhs/year. While the fees of private medical colleges ranges between 12-16 lakhs/year. Good private engineering college fee is around 10 lakhs/year. Cost of medical education in Russia, Kyrgyzstan is cheaper than in India. The Supreme Court said that, ''Tuition fee must be affordable, Education is not a profit making business. School, Colleges cannot be business hubs.''
