Leading public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorised to issue and encash electoral bonds through its 29 authorised branches in state capitals from January 2 to January 11.

The Government has recently approved the issuance of the 23rd tranche of the electoral bond that was opened for sale from November 9 - 15. On November 7, 2022, the Ministry of Finance issued a notification amending the electoral scheme to provide an additional period of 15 days for their sale.

According to the ministry, the Electoral Bonds shall be valid for fifteen calendar days from the date of issue and no payment shall be made to any payee Political Party if the Electoral Bond is deposited after expiry of the validity period.
