Cyclone Dana: The Eastern Railway will not operate 190 local trains in its Sealdah division from 8 pm on Thursday till 10 am on Friday in view of cyclonic storm 'Dana', an official said. The step was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of train passengers.

The Kolkata-headquartered zonal railway recorded a growth of 8.91 per cent in passenger revenue, earning Rs 3,573.31 crore in 2023-24, he said. It achieved a freight loading of 86.87 metric tonnes in 2023-24, which is nine per cent more than the previous fiscal.

he Eastern Railways is all set to run Special Passenger trains between Sealdah and Krishnapur for two days on June 14 and 15. Krishnapur and Sealdah will be run on June 15 and 16, 2018 in order to clear the extra rush of passengers during the Eid al-Fitr festival.

"This budget is concentrating on the improvement of infrastructure and most importantly safety.
