The government's direct tax collections so far this financial year (April 1 to June 17) stood Rs 4,62,664 crore, up 21 per cent on a year-on-year basis, official data showed on Tuesday.

"The provisional figures of direct tax collections continue to register steady growth. Direct tax collections up to 10th February, 2024 show that gross collections are at Rs 18.38 lakh crore, which is 17.30 per cent higher than the gross collections for the corresponding period of last year," Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement, "Direct Tax collection, net of refunds, stands at Rs 14.70 lakh crore which is 19.41 per cent higher than the net collection for the corresponding period of last year. This collection is 80.61 per cent of the total Budget Estimates of Direct Taxes for FY 2023-24."
