Nifty December futures closed at a premium of 1.35 points versus a premium of 13.50 points. The market added Rs 3637 cr in open interest, taking the total open interest in the F&O segment to Rs. 516659 cr. The Nifty call option added 177.83 lakh shares in open interest and the put option shed 82.03 lakh shares in open interest. AMBUJACEM (8%) INDIGO (7%), ACC (7%), PVR (6%) and IDFCFIRSTB (6%) were the top gainers in terms of open interest.

On December 17, 2020, the benchmark indices opened on a flat note in line with muted cues from global markets. The Nifty traded in a range of 30-40 points, facing some kind of resistance on the upper side. The Nifty Bank, Financial, Pharma and Realty indices closed in the green zone while Nifty Auto, FMCG and Metal indices closed in the negative zone. Stocks like DIVISLAB, HDFC, BAJAJ FINANCE, HDFCBANK and SHREECEM were top gainers that rose by 2-3%, while stocks like HINDALCO, COALINDIA, MARUTI, ADANIPORTS and TATASTEEL were top losers that fell by 1-2%. The Nifty closed around 13750 levels with a gain of 0.37%.

The Nifty opened with a gain of 60 points on December 14, 2020, in line with strong cues from global markets. Thereafter, the Nifty went in negative zone due to profit booking at higher levels. Barring Nifty Auto and Reality indices, all other indices closed in the positive zone rising by 1-2%. In the afternoon, the Nifty managed to turn positive aided by buying at lower levels. Stocks like ONGC, LT, CIPLA, COALINDIA and IOC were top gainers that rose by 3-4%, while stocks like EICHERMOT, HEROMOTOCO, M&M, HDFCLIFE and TECHM were top losers that fell by 2-3%. The Nifty closed at around 13568 levels with a gain of 0.21%.
