The central government has decided to extend the relief in custom duty and agriculture cess given to textile importers on import duty till 31 October. It must be noted that the earlier exemption given on 13 April this year was supposed to last till 30 September.

Cotton prices slipped today. Cotton price on MCX is trading below Rs 45,600. Cotton became cheaper by about Rs 5000 in 2 weeks. The government will soon decide on increasing the demand for extending the import duty cut till December 31. The government is also taking steps to reduce the cost. Apart from this, a new policy is being considered to increase the yield. Improved seeds will be made available. The government will make a portal for monitoring the prices.
