Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics giant, has pulled out of its $19.5-billion joint venture with Vedanta to set up a chipmaking plant in India. However, Foxconn is still interested in investing in India's semiconductor market and will apply for incentives from the Indian government to set up a separate chipmaking unit. The company is in talks with local and international partners to collaborate on the project.

China's 'dual use spy' vessel Yuan Wang 5 docked at Sri Lanka's Hambantota port on Tuesday despite objections raised by India. A few days ago, Colombo had requested Beijing to postpone the arrival of this spy ship at the port keeping in mind the concerns of India. Although this ship was to reach the port on August 11, but due to lack of approval from the Sri Lankan authorities, there was a delay. Now the ship will stop at this port till 22nd August. The Sri Lankan government finally granted the port access to the vessel from August 16 to 22. India had expressed concern about the Chinese spy ship staying at the port of Colombo because China could spy on Indian installations. Watch this special report on India 360.
