China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 4.5 per cent year-on-year in the first three months of the year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Tuesday, faster than the 2.9 per cent in the previous quarter and beating analyst forecasts for a 4 per cent expansion.
