Is the safety rating of cars not necessary for road accidents? Actually, this discussion has been sparked by the statement of R. C. Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki. R. C. Bhargava said, "It is more important to know the reason for the accident than the safety of the cars. Increasing the safety features will only hike the prices of the vehicles. NCAP standards will not help in reducing road accidents. It is important to see the condition of the vehicle, health of the driver. The focus of NCAP is not on the causes of road accidents."
