Attari-Wagah retreat ceremony: The Attari border front, also called the joint check post or JCP, is located about 26 kms from Amritsar city and hundreds of domestic visitors, foreign tourists and locals go everyday to watch the daily flag lowering and retreat ceremony conducted in a synchronised fashion by smartly-dressed BSF personnel along with their counterparts Pakistan Rangers, on their side known as Wagah.

Famous monuments across the country were illuminated on the eve of 73rd Independence Day. Prominent buildings including Rashtrapati Bhavan were illuminated in beautiful colours. Mesmerizing colours beamed on Assam High Court and State Museum buildings. Minto Hall and Raj Bhavan in Bhopal were also lit up to mark Independence Day. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus railway station was lit up in Tricolour. Attari-Wagah border was decorated with colourful lighting.

IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman has been finally handed over to Indian High Commission officials.
Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, captured by Pakistan on Wednesday, will be handed over by Pakistan to India in a short while from now, at the Attari-Wagah Border.
