The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has expanded mandatory hallmarking for gold and gold artefacts to 361 districts across India. This move, detailed in an official notification, aims to ensure higher quality and authenticity standards for gold products by certifying their purity through the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
