In a big boost to India’s rocket force, DRDO is all set to test fire soon a new long-range anti-ship ballistic missiles. The missiles would be able to hit moving warships or aircraft carriers at distances of over 1,000 kms, defence sources told ANI. The missile would be capable of being launched from both warships and shore-based locations, the sources said. The missile system being developed for the Indian Navy would give it capability to take out enemy vessels from a long-range. Indian forces have been boosting inventory with Pralay ballistic missiles ordered by both Indian Army and IAF.

This missile launch is a significant milestone, not only for the Kalvari, which is the first in a series of Scorpene class submarines being built in India, but also in enhancing the Indian Navy’s sub-surface warfare capability.
