PM Modi said during his address on Saturday, "The foundation of a strong India of the 21st century was laid. The removal of 370 provided social justice. We made strict laws against terrorism. Now the Judicial Code has come into force in the country. British laws existed for 75 years. Now, there is no more penal code, there is a justice code in place."

Amendment Bill, 2015 was passed in Lok Sabha however the same was blocked in Rajya Sabha and is still with Parliamentary Committee.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today underscored the constructive role of the opposition in a healthy democracy as the 17th Lok Sabha began. Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House, PM Modi said, "Every word of the opposition is valuable... The Opposition need not bother about their numbers. I hope they speak actively and participate in the house proceedings".

If cleared by the Union Cabinet Wednesday, the new bill could be introduced in the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha beginning June 17. The opposition had been opposing provisions of the triple talaq bill in Rajya Sabha where the government lacked numbers to ensure its passage.

The Lok Sabha Election Results 2019 that were announced on Thursday evening declared the BJP-led NDA as the winner. As per Election Commission, BJP won 303 seats out of 542, witnessing a landslide win. Congress was contained at 52 seats.
