Design-wise, the device looks classy as it flaunts a premium design language. The back panel features a dual-texture finish, including a shimmery feel and glossy texture. Despite the textured feel of one part separated by a subtle band at the back, the phone feels slippery. The box includes a silicon ribbed case, which perfectly complements the smartphone, providing a good grip. Weighing 180g and with a thickness of 7.4mm, it has a slim body and an IP65 certification for water and dust resistance. The device is available in two colour variants: Space Brown and Sunset Gold.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review: Display

Featuring a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro offers a refresh rate up to 120Hz and a maximum configurable brightness notching 600 nits. The brand claims to offer peak brightness of 1200nits in sunshine. The display is smooth, extremely responsive, and ultimately a performance enabler. The quad-curved display offers the feel of both a flat panel display and a curved display, making one feel as if the display floats on the phone’s top. For multimedia usage, it has stereo speakers with up to 300 per cent volume. The front comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review: Performance and Software

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro draws power from MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energyprocessor, which in our assessment is a satisfactory performer, if your day-to-day expectations include scrolling social media, taking pictures, recording videos, or even undertaking some gaming sessions. However, the phone seems to be a bit underpowered during extensive gaming or multitasking, encountering noticeable hiccups. The smartphone runs on ColorOS 1.4 based on Android 14. It offers a smooth UI feel, which is lucidly customised to perform different activities in conformity with the device’s functionality. The smartphone will receive 3 years of major Android updates and at least 4 years of security patches.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review: AI Features

The phone has adopted a hybrid AI approach, implying that some of the features can be used with the on-device AI while others might seek cloud access. The brand has efficiently tried to ease the day-to-day usage with AI, including features like photo editing tools like AI Eraser 2.0, enabling to remove the unwanted object from the photo. It also offers features like AI Best Face and AI Clear Face, elevating the quality of group selfies. Another AI-backed functionality is an app named AI Studio, letting users transform themselves into their digital avatars.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review: Camera

Boasting a triple camera setup, including a 50 MP primary camera, a 50 MP telephoto shooter, and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro does a decent job. The primary 50MP camera clicks good photos, ensuring colour representation with proper contrast. The telephoto camera efficiently captures photos with up to 5x digital zoom, without compromising the sharpness. In low light, the photos, however, appear a bit more saturated, but that’s not a dealbreaker considering the overall camera prowess this device brings on the table.  At the front, there’s a 50MP selfie camera, capturing decent skin tones and delivering good results, especially under well-lit conditions.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review: Battery

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro packs a 5,000 mAh battery with a day’s worth of backup on a single charge. The smartphone supports 80W fast charging, taking a maximum of 50 minutes to reach 100 per cent from 0.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review: Verdict

This smartphone is indeed a first of its kind in this segment, with AI integration as the underscoring factor. Its other USPs incorporate a sleek design, handy feel, good battery life, and satisfactory camera, among others. The device almost nears perfection but remains shy of it, given the improvement scope in its performance. To conclude, if you don’t don your gamers hat more often, the device clearly deserves your attention.
