Oppo Find X8 Pro Review: Find X is the flagship series of Oppo, but unfortunately it has been out of buyers' reach in India for quite a while now. But this has changed in 2024 as the company has launched the Find X8 Series in India and here is the review of the Oppo Find X8 Pro - the elder sibling of the series. For the uninitiated, the Find X series is making a comeback in India after a good four years and it seems that the wait was worth it.

The Oppo Find X8 Pro has a clean design and the smartphone in Space Black colour looks sophisticated. Frosted texture, quad-curved glass on the front and the back and aluminium frame give it a premium look. The device has a nice symmetrically aligned camera module with a quad-camera setup and an H (Hasselblad) branding in it. The good thing about it is that it is neither protruding too much nor has any evident wobbling when kept on the table. Also, it gives the impression of a camera-centric phone. The phone has a quick button on the right side along with an alert slider on the left. The company has moved the volume rocker and power button slightly up but they are still within reach.

The device comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings - something that you really want when you buy a flagship smartphone that will set you back by Rs 1 lakh (IP68 - can withstand being submerged in 1.5-meter water for 30 minutes; IP69 - can withstand jet sprays of water at up to 80 degrees Celcius). To make this flagship smartphone durable, the company has used Armor Shield construction.

Oppo Find X8 Pro: Display

The OPPO Find X8 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch quad-curved LTPO AMOLED display and a resolution of 2780 x 1264  pixels. It offers 120Hz adaptive refresh and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The display feels buttery smooth when scrolling through social media platforms and is bright enough even when used under direct sunlight. The slightly curved display across all four sides gives a good in-hand feeling. Moreover, it has super-thin and symmetrical 1.9mm bezels - a must-have in flagship devices.

This panel is compatible with a wide range of HDR content as it supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10+. For eye comfort, it supports 2160Hz PWM dimming and is Certified by TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort 4.0. I enjoyed watching Code 8 on Amazon on this device over the weekend. The good sound quality of the dual speakers was a cherry on the cake.

Oppo Find X8 Pro: Performance and Software

The Oppo Find X8 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset based on its 2nd-generation 3nm design. It is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. This makes the device perfect to handle all kinds of tasks, be it multitasking, gaming or anything else. You can easily play games like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) without noticing any lag. The good thing is that I didn't notice a heating issue while playing the game.

I didn't face any issues in terms of performance but decided to run some tests for those who want numbers. This device scored 2.34 million on AnTuTu which is far less than what the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered smartphone achieved. The device managed 2,147 single-core score and 7,319 multi-core score on the Geekbench. But it shines in terms of stability, as the device showed stability of 99.6 per cent during the Wild Life Stress Test. However, the device has a good thermal management system as it does a good job of maintaining the maximum temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, considerably lower than the device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The smartphone runs on Android 15 with ColorOS 15 and offers refreshing interfaces with redesigned icons and widgets. It also lets you customise layouts and effects. Apart from introducing several AI features, it has also introduced a feature called Touch to Share. This enables seamless file transfers between the Find X8 Pro and Apple devices with the help of the O+ Connect app. Some of the AI features that can be really helpful for users are AI Clarity Enhance, AI Unblur and AI Reflection Remover.

Also, the company is promising five years of OS updates and six years of security updates.

Oppo Find X8 Pro: Battery & Charging

The smartphone has a good 5910mAh silicon carbon battery and supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging. It also supports 50W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. The device can be fully charged in less than 60 minutes. The smartphone can very easily last over a day with regular usage.

Oppo Find X8 Pro: Camera

The smartphone has a quad-camera setup, with each having a 50MP sensor. The setup includes a 50MP Sony LYT808 primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide Samsung 5KJN5 sensor, a 50MP Sony LYT600 3X telephoto lens and a 50MP Sony IMX858 6X periscope telephoto lens. For selfies, it has a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor on the front.

This is one of the most capable camera setups that you can get. The main camera clicks images with lots of details and good dynamic range. It doesn't capture the natural skin tone most of the time, but boosted skin colour makes the images more social media-sharing worthy. Portrait images are great with good edge detection on most occasions. The 3x and 6x optical zoom click sharp and detailed images. At full zoom, the Oppo Find X8 Pro is not very stable, so it is better to use a tripod to get the best result. The good thing is that you will get colour consistency with the ultra-wide camera. Also, the zoom capability of the smartphone is commendable. The camera set-up also produces detailed images even in low light.

The selfies taken using the Oppo Find X8 look good and it captures decent images even in low-light conditions. Portrait images and selfies taken against harsh backlighting too look cool. The selfie camera won't disappoint you even in low-light conditions.

Oppo Find X8 Pro: Verdict

Several flagship smartphones available in the market feel slightly overpriced. However, the Oppo Find X8 Pro is the one that is worth every penny because it has ticked almost all the boxes. It has attempted to provide a complete package, from providing better durability to fast charging speed and good battery life to up-to-the-mark camera performance. At the same time, it has one of the best chipsets which ensures lag-free performance.
