Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Comes with solid upgrades
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: The Oppo Find N3 Flip is the first flip phone to feature a flagship triple camera set-up and also the first to have a telephoto camera.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Oppo has launched its second generation of flip phone - Oppo Find N3 Flip. While there are brands like Samsung that enjoy first-mover advantage, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is trying to raise the bar with the Oppo Find N3 Flip. While the latest flip phone by Oppo has retained some features - like a 3.26-inch vertical cover screen and 4,300mAh battery - there are several upgrades and first-in-segment features too. Are these features worth the price tag? Find out in the Zee Business Review.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Price
The Oppo Find N3 Flip is available in two colour variants - Cream Gold and Sleek Black - and one RAM and storage variant of 12GB + 256GB. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 94,999 but can be purchased for Rs 82,999 after cashbacks and incentives. Here I am using the smartphone in Sleek Black colour which definitely looks premium.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Design
While competitors like Samsung and Motorola are now providing cover screens as big as the entire front half of the phone, Oppo has decided to stay out of this race. According to the company, the decision to stick with the 3.26-inch vertical cover screen not only saves battery - one of the pain points of flip phones - but also makes using different apps easier as most of the apps are designed for a similar aspect ratio.
The design is somewhat similar to its predecessor but there are two noticeable changes. The first one is a circular triple camera setup and the second one is the alert slider on the left side of the smartphone. It has a glass panel which looks premium but is also prone to smudges and fingerprints. It is therefore advisable to use the black soft cover provided in the retail box.
The smartphone has a good in-hand feeling when folded and is thin when unfolded. Curved edges on the back provide a good grip on the device. However, when unfolded, the volume rockers feel a little out of reach for one-hand operation.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Display
As mentioned above, the Oppo Find N3 Flip has a 3.26-inch vertical cover screen with a 17:9 aspect ratio. It now supports all major apps like Gmail, Outlook, Uber, X (formerly Twitter) and Google Maps. I can easily check my emails on Gmail without opening the main screen. However, composing a mail won't be that pleasant, especially when you have to write something in detail. But it is good enough for replying to someone's message on WhatsApp and other similar apps.
There are several customisation options available for the cover screen and it lets you access almost everything without needing to flip open the smartphone. Also, it offers a 60Hz refresh rate which makes the use of the cover screen quite smooth.
The Find N3 Flip has a 6.8-inch AMOLED main display with a 403 PPI display and it has 1,440Hz of PWM (pulse width modulation) dimming that reduces strain on eyes. Also, there's no noticeable crease on the inside screen and this is where Oppo has really pushed the limit.
The main screen offers 1,600 nits of peak brightness and a 120Hz of refresh rate. Browsing through webpages, watching movies and switching between apps feel smooth. The overall experience is good and the presence of dual speakers makes it even better. I really enjoyed re-watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 on Disney+ Hotstar.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Performance and software
The Oppo Find N3 Flip is powered by a MediaTek 9200 processor that is powerful enough to handle all your tasks smoothly. It lets you multifunction and you can even play heavy games like Asphalt 9. It runs on ColorOS 13.2 based on Android 13 which offers a lot of customisation but does come with several bloatware.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Battery and charging
The Oppo Find N3 Flip comes with the same 4,300mAh battery. During my around a week usage, it lasted for an entire day when used moderately. The good thing is that it supports 44W SUPERVOOC fast charging. However, the charging brick provided in the box is 80W. This can juice up the battery from zero to 100 per cent in around 1 hour.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Camera
The Oppo Find N3 Flip is the first flip phone to feature a flagship triple camera set-up and also the first to have a telephoto camera. The primary camera of the Find N3 Flip features a 50MP IMX890 sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It is accompanied by a 48MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP portrait camera.
Images clicked in good lighting conditions are almost colour-accurate with good dynamic range and details. Portrait mode also works well and gives the right amount of bokeh. The ultrawide camera also offers good details and retains natural colour.
You get a 32MP camera for selfies on the inner screen. It clicks good images and even in low lights. However, the skin tone is not very accurate but looks good.
Also, the cover screen acts as a viewfinder and therefore you can use the main camera to click some good selfies. And you don't even need to press any buttons as you can simply show your palm to snap your shot.
Oppo Find N3 Flip Review: Verdict
The Oppo Find N3 Flip comes with a hefty price tag but at the same time, the smartphone has several industry-first features to justify it. Alert slider is a really useful feature and we have used it in devices of OnePlus. Also, the presence of a triple camera setup definitely gives the Oppo Find N3 Flip an edge over other smartphones. However, the strongest points of this smartphone are an almost crease-less inner display and fast charging. Making it bloatware-free would have definitely provided one more solid reason to go for the device.
