Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: A Wristphone or Standalone Device - Let’s find out!
Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: Android functions, like a full-blown QWERTY keyboard, run with ease along with features such as screenshot grabbing or customising the screen.
Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: With the craze for budget smartwatches going northwards, numerous brands have endeavoured to revolutionise the market with different set of offerings. However, in their quest to flood the market, all of them, understandably constrained under budgetary limitations, seem to be compromising on one feature or the other. To the smartwatch enthusiasts’ delight, the device that we are going to have a look at in this review may potentially alter the perspective on budget smartwatches. Yes, most of you would have hit the bull’s eye by now. We shall be quickly skimming through Fire-Boltt’s latest introduction in the smartwatch segment, Fire-Boltt Dream. Along with OS support, this device boasts true 4G nano-SIM support, and there are many more prospects to explore in the review to follow.
Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: Design
Resembling Apple Watch Ultra in appearance, the Fire-Boltt Dream features a rectangular dial. To the right, lies a crown, followed by a button, and to the left, you will find the nano-SIM slot. The crown, incorporating that rotating functionality, comes with noticeable haptic feedback. While the smartwatch comes in a singular black colour, the brand has ensured the availability of three straps options - silicone, metal, or leather.
Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: Display
The Fire Boltt Dream runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. With a 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory, this device is quite handy, and a must-have for users who adore a mini-phone rolled on their wrists. The 2.02-inch panel is not AMOLED, and while the contrast appears to be good, it is not the best though. The brand advertises a peak brightness of 600 nits. While it looks sufficient on paper, during usage we felt that the display was slightly less bright to use under direct sunlight.
Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: Features and Software
Android functions, like a full-blown QWERTY keyboard, run with ease along with features such as screenshot grabbing or customising the screen. Despite a few frame-drops here and there, Fire Boltt Dream also supports games like Temple Run 2 and Subway Surfers. Nevertheless, the multimedia experience while using social media might not be seamless attributed to optimisation issues.
Not to be missed is the fact that the heart-rate monitor and step-counter perform smoothly. But, there’s a catch. As most smartwatch users don’t like missing out, this Fire Boltt Dream too does not allow you to simply take calls after connecting to your phone, or access the notifications. However, to be able to view to view notifications, installing the particular app becomes a must.
We used the smartwatch with a 4G SIM and it managed to provide good network and data speeds. Calling was also smooth and the audio output was quite decent. All-in-all, this smartwatch can be an alternative to your smartphone for calling.
Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: Battery
Well, the Fire Boltt Dream, being powered with a full-fledged operating system, is bound to trade off battery life with the OS, and it is not rocket science. If you are okay with charging the smartwatch more frequently, unlike smartwatches that give multi-week battery, life you can go for it. The ultra-battery saving mode is always there to keep the device working.
Fire-Boltt Dream Smartwatch Review: Verdict
If your priorities involve using a smartwatch as more of a standalone device, the Fire-Boltt Dream is a product for you. It feels more like a concept smartwatch and the lack of ‘connectivity’ with your phone appears to be the major obstacle in luring the majority of prospective smartwatch buyers. To conclude, the Fire-Boltt Dream, no doubt, is a compact device, and it can serve as a full-fledged phone for your spare SIM card.
