In the latest announcement, YouTube revealed over two dozen updates aimed at enhancing the viewing as well as creation experience across mobile TV, YouTube Music, and the web. The upgrades include improved navigation in landscape mode, fine-tuning playback speed features for better control, larger texts, and several virtual enhancements.

One significant upgrade is an improved mini-player, which will allow users to keep browsing while watching and adding videos without the playback getting interrupted. Users will also be able to invite family and friends to enhance the playlist through links or QR codes. The playlist can also be personalised with custom thumbnails, including AI-generated photos. To create an AI-generated thumbnail, users can click on ‘Create with AI’, select a theme, and choose from AI-powered creations. These upgrades will be available across YouTube Music, web, TVs, and mobile devices. 

The YouTube Sleep Timer is another interesting feature, enabling users to set a timer to automatically pause videos after some time.

In a statement, YouTube said, “We tested this feature with our Premium members earlier this ear to rave reviews. And we’re now excited to make it available to all our users on YouTube across mobile devices.” 

Additionally, the new updates will introduce a refreshed user interface that offers an enhanced cinematic feel, ensuring a more immersive experience. 

“The visual changes rolling out on web and mobile will also come to the YouTube app on TV. Keep an eye out for new pops of pink, as well as other light touches that add dynamism to the YouTube you to the YouTube you know and love”, YouTube said.

In other developments, YouTube has introduced an advanced ‘erase song’ feature, which has been designed to assist video content creators to delete or erase copyrighted music from their videos promptly. The new tool will allow users to edit out the claimed portion of the content.
