“Every day, people come to YouTube to learn something new, and are using it to enrich their lives with new information. A recent study found that 93% of viewers report using YouTube to gather information,” Jonathan Katzman, Director of Project Management at YouTube Learning, wrote in an official blog post.

Here are the features that have been introduced to improve the YouTube experience in educational environments:

Player for Education: This is a new YouTube embedded player that will play video content on commonly used education apps without distractions like ads, external links or recommendations.

Initially, YouTube is partnering with some established edtech companies in the United State.

Courses: This feature will be introduced next year and will provide in-depth, structured learning experiences for viewers. Those who will buy the Course can watch the video ad-free and play it in the background.

Quizzes: According to YouTube, this will let learners to apply what they have learned. This will be a new way for creators to help viewers test the knowledge they have gathered in the previous video. Creators having a Community tab will get access to Quizzes.
