The new Xiaomi device, codename cited as “orchid_sprout”, has been discovered by Franztesca, a junior member at XDA Developers. The codename was confirmed by its existence in the latest MIUI 10 builds released for the Mi MIX 3. The “_sprout” suffix has been used as codename for every Android One device certified by Google and it has also been found on the Android One smartphones released so far by Xiaomi, said a BGR report.

Other XDA developers have also stated to have confirmed to have come across this device while looking into the latest MIUI build for Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.

The "_sprout" code name is present on almost every device which is a part of the Android One programme. For example, the Mi A1, Mi A2, and the Mi A2 Lite were code named as "tissot_sprout", "jasmine-sprout", and "daisy_sprout", said the report.

Earlier, Xiaomi launched Mi A2 Lite alongside Mi A2, but only the latter was launched in the Indian market. Android One series of Xiaomi devices have proved to be strong contender in the mid-range as they are a few smartphones offering Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC and stock Android UI in this price range.

The rumours that Xiaomi is working on Mi A2 successor are based on the code name. Otherwise, there is no other feedback about processor or RAM, battery capacity, or even about the display to get a notch or not.
