Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL)'s Chairman Mukesh Ambani unveiled the much awaited new JioPhone on Friday. Besides the feature phone being available at a very low price, the phone could also a push for cord cutting in India. This is Ambani announced a special and affordable 'JioPhone TV cable' that connects the phone with any TV and enables them to view TV shows and movies on the big screen.

While JioPhone users can view content such as TV shows, movies and educational videos on their handset due to the 4G internet of Reliance Jio, they also have the option of connecting it to their TV sets and watching the content on a larger screen. This is not only for smart TV but also for regular TV sets.

Ambani said, “This is especially true in many remote parts of India where even cable TV and the high-speed internet have not reached. Our young Jio engineers have created an innovation to help them — a special and affordable ‘JioPhone TV cable’ that connects JioPhone with any TV, not just a smart TV, so that all JioPhone users can enjoy viewing on the big screen of their existing television sets.”

So how can one use the JioPhone TV cable to watch TV?

As most TV channels today come with a Live streaming option, a person can use the JioPhone TV cable to stream these TV channels and connect it to the TV set. The person has to first buy the device which connects it to your TV.

This device can save DTH and cable customers an average of around Rs 200-300 per month as people can go ahead and cut the cord.

As you connect your phone to the TV the contents of the TV can be viewed on the large screen itself. The device can also be connected to any TV screen irrespective of the brand or type.

However, people will be able to watch the TV through JioPhone TV cable for 4-5 hours in a day as the 4G data limit of 512 MB per day may not be sufficient for watching TV for long hours.
