Users said they could not send messages or connect with the WhatsApp web servers. The outage reportedly started around 9 am but aggravated after over an hour.

According to Downdetector, users started reporting the problem at around 9 am and it peaked at around 11 am. Out of those who faced the problem, 58 per cent of them reported issues related to the web version. Also, 35 per cent of them faced problems with the app.

“Am I the only one experiencing Whatsapp web problems or is it down globally?” a user said on X.

While another user said, “So I’m not the only one for whom Whatsapp web is not working"

The reason for the outage is not known yet and WhatsApp has not issued any statement related to it.

Meanwhile, the company has introduced a new feature called 'voice message transcripts'. Voice messages have been a popular feature on this platform as it makes connecting with friends and family even more personal.

Also, it comes in handy when you are not in a position to send a text message to someone. While there's something special about hearing the voices of your loved ones when you’re far away, there are instances when you can’t listen to them.

The 'voice message transcripts' feature lets you transcribe your voice messages into text, “to help you keep up with conversations no matter what you're doing”.

According to the company, transcripts are generated on your device so that no one else, not even WhatsApp, can hear or read your personal messages.
