WhatsApp users alert! This small mistake can allow hackers to access your messages

WhatsApp has millions of users on the platform, with India being its biggest market. Every day, all of us share millions of exchange information through messages on the platform. And, a small mistake can leave your data in the hands of hackers. The users need to be aware that there are several fake versions of the popular iOS and Android app that could post a big threat to them. 

Even though the platform keeps adding new features for its users, some people feel that isn’t enough and have been turning towards the range of 'modded' WhatsApp apps which are available from APK websites. These tinkered with versions offer a range of features which you can't find on the official version of WhatsApp on Google's Play Store and the Apple App Store.

However, they put you at a huge risk. These modified and unofficial versions of WhatsApp could leave users vulnerable to hackers.

This is because these apps could easily spring a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack on unsuspecting users of the programmes. Such attacks let hackers intercept conversations, and enables them to read and even edit messages.

In the past, WhatsApp users have been warned to not use these versions. The platform had even said that if done, the account could be temporary suspended. "Good post: using a modded WhatsApp version is never a solution for your privacy and security,” WhatsApp News portal was tweeted.
