No official date has been announced for the release of this feature. But, there is a WhatsApp trick that allows users to turn their WhatsApp into Dark mode even before the feature is released. Here is how to create a darker WhatsApp experience -

1. Open WhatsApp and select the setting tab.

2. Press chats, go to Chat Wallpaper and click on solid colours.

3. Scroll down and select any dark colour.

4. Tap to apply the darker background to the chat screen.

5. The users can also customise the image by saving it to camera roll and selecting it from the photos option in the Chat Wallpaper section.

There are many other platforms that are already offering Dark mode. These include Youtube, Twitter and Apple's macOS 10.14 Majave. Facebook is also thought to be bringing this option to its Messenger.
