- Android smartphone users can restore messages through local backup.

- Go to file browser.

- Go to WhatsApp > Database

- Select the ‘msgstore.db.crypt12’ file and long-press it to rename the file to ‘msgstore_backup.db.crypt12’.

- Rename the most recent backup file to ‘msgstore.db.crypt12’.

- From here, you need to go to the Google Drive and open the menu.

- Open backup folder and delete the recent WhatsApp backup.

- Then, uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.

- When you log in to WhatsApp, select the restore messages option and opt for local backup.
