WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform, has introduced a Chat Lock feature to enhance privacy by securing chats. This feature includes a Secret Code that users can assign to the Chat Lock folder and access simply by searching for the code within the app. When the Chat Lock feature is enabled, the locked chats are organized in a dedicated chat folder.

The secret code enables users to set a customised password for the locked chats. Additionally, it also allows users to designate a unique name for the locked chats. Users can also hide the chats from the top of the app. Therefore, it becomes difficult for others to find the locked chats.

Once the Secret Code is assigned to locked chats, users are required to search the code in the app to access chats. If the incorrect code is entered, the locked chats remain hidden and there is no other way to access them.

To set up a Secret Code on WhatsApp, follow these steps:

• First, lock chats in WhatsApp by navigating to the chat. Long press on the chat and select the ‘Lock Chat’ option.

• Open WhatsApp and go to the ‘Locked Chats’ folder at the top of the chat.

• Tap on three dots in the top right corner and navigate to ‘Chat Lock’ settings

• Select the ‘Secret Code’ option

• Enter a code of your choice, then tap ‘Next’ to re-enter for confirmation

• Now, tap ‘Done’ to complete the process

Once your chats are locked, you can also hide them. To do this, navigate to the Chat lock settings page and tap on the toggle just next to the ‘Hide Locked Chats’ option.

This process will make accessing locked chats harder, as it will require even you to enter the correct code. However, if someone knows the ‘Secret Code’, they will be able to access the chats.
