WhatsApp is rolling out new group privacy settings that include blacklist option
This new option will let the user select people (contacts) who have to gain approval before adding you to the WhatsApp group. User can either select a few users or click on the Select All option which includes the entire contact list.
Its been a while since WhatsApp had announced the new group privacy setting and invite system in India. The platform is finally expanding its tests, rolling out the Group Privacy settings for iOS and Android users. In Group Privacy settings, the user gets the option to select who can add them in WhatsApp groups. When the feature was first rolled out, there was a "Nobody option" option instead of the "My Contacts Except" option. This new option will let the user select people (contacts) who have to gain approval before adding you to the WhatsApp group. User can either select a "few users" or click on the "Select All" option which includes the entire contact list.
To use the new feature, users need to select WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups option and select the settings according to their choice. The three options that will be available include - Everyone, My Contacts, and My Contacts Except.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature was spotted in the latest Android and iOS beta of WhatsApp Messenger, and there has been a slight tweak to it as well. WhatsApp is remotely activating the feature in iOS beta version 2.19.110.20 and Android beta version 2.19.298.
This update also includes the new Blacklist feature, Instead of "Nobody" option which was available earlier in Group Privacy Settings a new Blacklist option has been introduced. To get the latest configurations the tracker recommends backing up chat history and reinstall WhatsApp.
