WhatsApp
The popular messing app helps us to mute the contacts according to our choice. For which you need to follow these steps:
1. Open WhatsApp, Tap on the chat you want to mute.
2. For Android app, tap on the three-dot menu on the top-right corner, and then select the Mute option.
3. For iOS app, tap on the group or person’s name, and then select the Mute option.
4. You will get an option to mute a chat for eight hours, one week or one year, depending on your choice.
 

Messenger
Another popular messaging app, Facebook messenger allows us to mute people. For which you need to follow these steps:
1. Open the app, tap on the chat you want to mute.
2. Tap on the person or the group name, and then tap the mute icon.
3. You will get an option to mute a chat for 15 minutes, one hour, eight hours, 24 hours, or forever.
 

Instagram
Facebook-owned Instagram also has the same feature, If you have an Instagram account and want to mute the chats then you need to follow this:
1. Open the app on your phone, and tap on the chat you want to mute.
2. On the top right corner, you get info icon. Click on that
3. Tap on the mute messages toggle to stop getting a notification.
