The new translation feature, currently in development, aims to eliminate the need for external translation apps by enabling instant message translations within seconds. This innovation is poised to facilitate effortless communication among users who speak different languages.

According to reports, WhatsApp plans to uphold its commitment to privacy by processing translations on-device while preserving end-to-end encryption. This approach ensures that user data remains secure without the necessity of sending messages to external servers for translation.

Initially, the feature will support translation between languages such as English, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, and more. WhatsApp intends to expand language support in future updates to cater to a broader global audience.

In addition to translation capabilities, WhatsApp is also testing a feature that converts voice notes into text, allowing users to read messages instead of listening to them. This feature is currently being trialed among beta users in select countries who have opted for the latest WhatsApp beta for Android.

To access these upcoming features, users may need to download additional language packs, approximately 150MB in size, ensuring comprehensive language support within the app. The rollout is expected to enhance user convenience while maintaining robust security measures.

WhatsApp continues to innovate, aiming to enrich communication experiences for its vast user base worldwide.
