Instant messaging app service WhatsApp, which is the world’s most popular chat app with over 1.5 billion users in a month, has surprised its users with introduction of several changes this year. It has introduced stickers, group video calling and many more changes, but there is one highly anticipated feature that WhatsApp fans are eagerly awaiting is related to Dark Mode setting.

WABetaInfo, which keeps a tab on upcoming features on WhatsApp, recently tweeted that the dark mode is in development right now, but did not clearly state on what the release date may be.

The tweet read: “I receive a lot of questions about the Dark Mode. It's still under development and there is no news now, be patient please. When there is news on iOS and Android, you will obviously receive more info from me, don’t worry.”

Earlier in September, WABetaInfo had tweeted about the WhatsApp dark mode as, “I’m happy to exclusively give the good news: WhatsApp is finally working on a Dark Mode! It’s a dream."

"There are many important secret references in recent updates! Be patient to see it out, hoping it will be FULL OLED friendly for Android phones, iPhone X and newer!” it had added.

Notably, WhatsApp dark mode is being anticipated for several reasons, as it is reportedly easier on a phone’s battery life with OLED displays needing more power to display colours other than black. Further, it is also easier on the eyes, which makes it perfect for viewing WhatsApp at night time.
