Meta-owned WhatsApp has decided to streamline its verification system and changed all the green ticks or checkmarks for its business accounts and channels into blue ticks to keep a reliable verification identity across all Meta platforms. The goal of blue ticks is to enhance users’ trust by assuring genuineness. It will also help people differentiate between real businesses and potential mimics, encouraging secure communication with certified accounts.

This change was first identified in the recent WhatsApp beta for the iOS 24.16.10.72 version and the new upgrade substitutes the old green badge. As Meta already uses a blue tick to designate verified accounts on its other social media platforms such as Threads, Instagram, and Facebook, now the company has rolled out the same feature on WhatsApp as well. As of now, this feature is accessible to a few users who have downloaded the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for iOS, however, a broader rollout is predicted to take place within a couple of weeks. The new feature is similar to Meta’s verification tool, which was launched by the CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg around two months ago for a few businesses. 

Meta also recently unveiled Meta AI service for its popular messaging platform WhatsApp, which aims to assist users in performing daily tasks or certain creative work. This tool was earlier introduced last year at Meta Connect. The new tool is supported or powered by the latest Llama 3 AI model. At present, Meta AI services are accessible to WhatsApp users in India after being unveiled for other worldwide WhatsApp users in April this year.
