WhatsApp users beware! If you are still using BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry OS, Nokia Symbian S60, Windows Phone 8.0, Nokia S40, and Android versions older than 2.3.7, iPhone iOS 7 and older iOS versions, your favourite phone  may not be able to operate WhatsApp. This social media platform will stop working on these phones. Notably, the information in this regard was earlier given by Facebook, which had announced that the company would be ending its app support for several phones post-December 31, 2018.

According to TelecomTalk report, from January 1, users using any of the phones mentioned above or models will not be able to send New Year messages to their friends and family through WhatsApp, as the Facebook-owned messaging app has confirmed that it no longer invests in developing services for these platforms. The company also stated that that its services would stop working on these phones by end of 2020.

WhatsApp is said to have mentioned that phones running on Nokia S40 will not be able to support WhatsApp services any more and service will end from January 1. Notably, the services officially ended in June this year, but after users of these phones got panicked WhatsApp had decided to extend services till December 31.

Meanwhile, the year 2018 has been a great year for WhatsApp, which introduced several features for both Android and iOS users. Some of these features include group video call, ground voice call, WhatsApp Stickers, quote to reply, and WhatsApp payments. 

The messaging app also improved Status feature which has now facilitated users to upload and share other media files along with videos, voice message, text message etc. 

Meanwhile, it also gathered negative publicity as the platform was used to propagate fake news too, which is something WhatsApp is having to address on a war footing now.
