A big change is set to come and popular social media platforms WhatsApp and Instagram users should be prepared for it. Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg is looking to effect a change that will bring the name of the social network itself front and centre. WhatsApp and Instagram are set to get new names as Facebook wants to display its ownership of the two most influential social media apps. Even though most users know that both these platforms are owned by Facebook, the biggest social network in the world, the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company wants to ensure that they are also known by its name. The company has proposed that Instagram will be known as 'Instagram from Facebook' and WhatsApp will named 'WhatsApp from Facebook'. "We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook," a company spokesperson stated.
Facebook had acquired Instagram in 2012 and the deal with WhatsApp was finalised in 2015. As of now, both the apps are known by their original names. But, after the implementation of the proposed names, a 'from Facebook' tag will appear on the app store listings as well as phone screens.
The decision comes as part of Facebook's planned integration of WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. The platform aims to unite the three platforms and allow users to communicate across them. "We’re working on making more of our messaging products end-to-end encrypted and considering ways to make it easier to reach friends and family across networks," Facebook had said in a statement, hinting at the possible integration of all the platforms

Collectively the three apps have over 2.6 billion users. There is still no confirmation on when the new names will be visible but reports claim that this could be rolled out by the end of this year or in early 2020.
WhatsApp testing third-party stickers
Meanwhile, it has been reported that WhatsApp is testing support for third-party sticker packs. The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo which even shared a screenshot of a monkey sticker pack being used on WhatsApp web. Apart from this, WhatsApp is also working on a new feature that allows users to run WhatsApp Web without linking their phones to it. This new app would work on a new multi-platform system which would operate even if your phone was turned off. Also, the feature would allow you to access the same WhatsApp account from different devices without logging off.
