WatchOut Gen 2 smartwatch review: Will suit millennials in every way, even the budget!
Things are changing now though. WatchOut Wearables is a new player in the market and it has introduced smartwatches at a very low price and it has even scored in terms of providing satisfaction when it comes need-fulfillment of users.
Smart wearable gadgets have become a trend nowadays. With the introduction of fitness bands, smartwatches, smart bracelets, users are now investing in wearable technology. Though we have brands like Apple, Samsung or Fossil and Amazefit among the top choices, but companies like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Huawei, Motorola have churned out some of the most affordable wearable devices in India. For most users, problem with smartwatches are the high prices. However, the ones that are cheap generally, lack the required features and standards. It all added up to one disappointing experience.
Things are changing now though. WatchOut Wearables is a new player in the market and it has introduced smartwatches at a very low price and it has even scored in terms of providing satisfaction when it comes need-fulfillment of users. The company offers a number of color options, customizable designs and the latest features at an affordable price range. Gen 2 is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
So, should it be considered as the most affordable, and loaded, wearable gadget for millennials? We have reviewed WatchOut Gen 2 Stallion Brown, which can help you to get an overview of the device and let you decide your future course of action.
WatchOut Gen 2 design and display
At first glance, the smartwatch looks like a time-piece lying on the table or on your wrist. But, as soon as you start it up, things brighten up considerably. The dial is made out of Zinc Alloy and stainless steel, while the traditional wrist strap is made up of handmade leather which is customizable. The watch weighs around 70 grams and feels light on the wrist. Overall the build quality is just about fine without actually making any fashion statement, but what is noteworthy is that it delivers on each feature perfectly.
Coming to the display, the smartwatch sports a full round Radian 1.22-inch IPS touch display with a resolution of 240×240 pixels. The colors on the display are sharp and clear but feel too bright sometimes. The display also has a tiny bezel which is only visible while using a colored face or background. The best thing about the watch is the hundreds of watch faces that the company provides. All you need to do is to signup on the website and download the options available there.
The IP54 Water is splash-proof which is a preferable choice for every fitness enthusiast or an occasional swimmer. Though the only thing that could have been an added advantage is the 'always-on display' support which is not there in Gen 2. Still, it does the job well and you would never feel let-down by using a smartwatch that is priced below Rs 7k.
Performance and battery
The WatchOut Gen 2 runs on a Nucleus OS and supports both Android & iOS platforms. Though it does not have any additional application for Android phone or an Apple device as it gets connected via Bluetooth. It offers a number of features like making/receiving phone calls, receive message notifications, vibrations, microphone, anti-lost, heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, music and camera control, call logs and sync contacts, etc. It has a MediaTek MTK2502C ARM v7 processor, 64MB RAM & 128MB ROM, which easily runs the smartwatch for daily use.
The touch works flawlessly and it easily connects to the phone and you can control everything from calls to the camera via smartwatch. The watch features a pedometer, heart rate monitor, and a sleep quality monitor that lets you track every activity with accuracy. Whether tracking your steps during a walk/run or your sleep, it does everything on point. It displays your phone notifications and performs other basic functions like controlling music, calling people, setting alarms, etc.
It also parks in a small audio output at the back and microphone which lets you attend calls without using your phone. But you cannot change a music track with your smartwatch which is missing. To charge the smartwatch, you just need to use a magnetic pin charger boxed along. Talking about the battery, it has a 300 mAh battery that lasts for one day only. Ideally, a smartwatch should give at least 2-3 days backup with such tech loaded specifications, but sadly that is the one thing that a buyer needs to compromise with.

Another disappointment is that WatchOut does not have its own app, so you will have to download a third-party app named FunDo to track your fitness activities. The app is really poor and you may face a lot of issues using it. But most of the features are usable without the app and you won't find yourself using it quite often. Overall, the watch delivers each function and feature perfectly, without any lag or issues.
Verdict
You can buy WatchOut Gen 2 at a price tag of Rs 6,499 to 6,699 depending on the color or design you like. WatchOut Gen 2 is a good one to have as it looks fine and works great in this budget. It comes with the latest features, customizable faces, clock types and average UI which meets all your expectations from a smartwatch. However, the Nucleus OS may feel a bit conventional in this age and time, but at a price tag of Rs 6,699, the smartwatch is a good option.
Also, the brand is new and we can't really comment on the customer support services, but if you are looking for an affordable smartwatch that offers a complete package than you can definitely go for WatchOut Gen 2.
