In one of the most awaited smartphone launches this year, the OnePlus 3 was unveiled on Tuesday by Carl Pei, Co-founder of OnePlus. Priced in India at Rs 27,999, the phone went on sale from 12:30 am onwards on Amazon and are expected to limited in quantity.

The company finally did away with the invite system and is available online.

With the specifications that the OnePlus 3 has and at the price range the phone beats even the likes of smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 or HTC 10, according to a Verge report.

Some of the features that makes the phone so desirable include:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
  • Fingerprint scanner which can unlock the handset in 0.2 seconds
  • 6GB RAM
  • 64 GB inbuilt storage (32GB and 128 GB variants will also be available)
  • 16-megapixel rear camera
  • 8-megapixel front camera
  • a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display screen

The phone runs on OxygenOS based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It is also equipped with dual-SIM and Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

Included for buyers in India is a free 12-month subscription to Saavn Pro. People can also avail of a 'double data' offer from Idea for 12 months. OnePlus also gives a 12 month warranty through the 'OnePlus Care app'.

The OnePlus 3 scored an average 8.5 out of 10 by TheVerge with all of its features either scoring an 8 or 9.
