If you have a problem booking Uber services due to slow network connectivity or maybe because your smartphone is entry-level one, then the taxi-hailing company has launched a new app specially designed for handsets that have limited storage capacity.   Uber Lite app is less than 5MB in size. The new app has a response time of 300-millisecond, a digit.in report said, citing Uber. The app takes less space and works faster.

The app detects users' current location and also gives landmarks choice around their location to make the selection procedure faster. The app also stores selected locations on a user’s device for making their ride easier on any later date.  In comparison to the main Uber app, in the new app there is a new feature called Maps On Demand where users get an option to load the map to track their rides if they want, the report said.

Uber Lite also gives options to contact the driver, emergency services and share ride status with others, it said. There is similar feature available in the main app.  Uber Lite was launched first in India. It will also include support for 7 "most common" Indic languages in the future, the report said.

Users of the app will reportedly be able to select the language of their choice. Uber executives told Digit.in that support for languages will be rolled out at a later date. The company is likely to bring regional language support to the app.
