Samsung is one of the leading players in the foldable market, with several launches in this segment. However, these smartphones come with a hefty price tag. To address this, the South Korean tech giant is reportedly working on more affordable versions of its foldable smartphones. If rumours are to be believed, Samsung may be working on the Samsung Galaxy Fan Edition (FE) series. The Fan Edition is well-known for offering flagship features at a more affordable price. Samsung’s first budget-friendly foldable offering is expected to be named the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE.

One report circulating on social media claims that Samsung is currently working on this budget-friendly device. It is likely that the device can be released along with the higher-end Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 later this year.

In an official statement, the company said, “We are considering ways to lower entry barriers so that more customers can actually experience foldable products, given the high satisfaction among existing foldable users.”

Specifications and features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE have not been officially released, but if rumours are accurate, the device may resemble the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and 6, featuring a 6.7-inch main foldable display. It is expected to have IPX8 certification for dust and water resistance and may run on Android 15-based OneUI 7.

Regarding pricing, Samsung is likely to reduce costs by using the previous-generation components, which may include reduced RAM or storage options, an older chipset, and a basic camera. However, the company is expected to maintain the quality of the display and the hinge. Samsung employs a similar strategy with the FE series devices.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip6 earlier this year. The smartphone is available in two storage variants (12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB) and in four colours - Silver Shadow, Yellow, Blue and Mint colour options.
