Samsung may introduce Galaxy AI-powered Live Translate tool to WhatsApp calls
As per the report, the company is all set to integrate the AI-powered Live Translate tool into WhatsApp, however, it is still unclear when the feature will be added to the popular messaging app.
Samsung gave a hint of its amazing new AI features in its Galaxy S24 models which were unveiled last year to improve smartphone competencies. One of these striking features was the Live Translate tool that provided instantaneous translation between various languages. Although the tool was ingrained for Samsung applications and devices, provision for third-party applications has always been in the pipeline. However, it seems that WhatsApp is the first third-party app to get this feature. As per the report, the company is all set to integrate the AI-powered Live Translate tool into WhatsApp, however, it is still unclear when the feature will be added to the popular messaging app. Earlier, Samsung stated that other applications will also receive Live Translate proficiencies, but did not name any apps specifically.
Sources suggest that although the smartphone maker has not clearly mentioned any apps in particular that will be added to the rollout of the new feature, it is predicted that all prevalent VoIP calling applications such as Google Meet, Facebook Messenger, Viber, Telegram, and WhatsApp will be incorporated in the rollout.
Samsung launched Galaxy AI; a collection of artificial intelligence features, earlier this year. It is supported by Google’s Gemini foundational models. The Galaxy AI consists of new generative AI-supported video, text, and image editing tools. Soon it will receive a Live Translate tool on WhatsApp calls. It is one of the more valuable tools as it offers a hands-free translator during VoIP calls and text messages, and has assistance for 13 languages. The Live Translate tool also has a standalone interpreter feature for prompt audio translations. As of now, the tool is already incorporated into Samsung's texts and calls.
According to reports, the Live Translate tool will be incorporated into Samsung’s Buds series such as the Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, and Galaxy Buds FE. It is expected that a firmware upgrade will let the buds utilize the feature once downloaded and paired with an S24 device. Nevertheless, it is unclear whether the buds have got these updates. In the meantime, Live Translate and other Galaxy AI features have been integrated into older Samsung handsets with the modern One UI 6.1 software update. These handsets consist of the S23 and S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 models. Samsung is expected to announce Galaxy AI features later this week along with new hardware during the Samsung Unpacked event which is planned to be held on July 10 and July 11.
