Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ Review: In the premium Android tablet segment, the South Korean technology giant Samsung is doing exceptionally well - we can take the Galaxy Tab S7 series for an example. Samsung is competing with Apple in the tablet market by offering flagship experience on Android tablets.
In a bid to gain more consumers and big market share in the flagship Tablet market, the south korean technology company recently brought its flagship three new tablets in India and globally under the Galaxy Tab S8 series - Tab S8 Ultra, Tab S8+ and Tab S8 with top-end features. The company says Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and Tab S8+ come with improved S Pen that uses prediction algorithm for ultralow latency delivering an incredible writing and tablet experience.
For the review, I have this middle model of the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, the Galaxy Tab S8+ tablet which is available at Rs 74,999 for Wi-Fi variant and Rs 87,999 for 5G variant. This newly launched Galaxy Tab S8+ tablet comes in Graphite, Silver, Pink Gold color options. I used the Galaxy Tab S8+ 5G Graphite color variant for more than a month and here's what I have to say about this premium Android tablet from Samsung.
In terms of design and outlook, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is made in such a way that even after watching movies, attending video calls, playing games, the tablet works smoothly and gives you a lag-free experience. The newly-launched tablet is housed in an attractive Aluminium case, will attract potential buyers. The good part is -- it's a thin-and-lightweight tablet, very comfortable to hold and use, and does not take much space, be it on a desk or inside your bag. (Vertically), on the front of the Galaxy Tab S8+, you will see thin display bezels with the front camera positioned in the centre. The tablet measures 185.00 x 285.00 x 5.70mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 567.00 grams. The back panel looks premium as well. Overall, in terms of design, Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ has ticked almost all the right boxes.
On the right side of the tablet (vertically), the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ houses a power button - which doubles up as a dedicated button to wake-up Bixby, volume rockers and a dedicated space for a SIM tray. At the bottom, the device features Type-C USB charging port and the stereo speakers, which worked very well during the review period. On the rea side (vertically), the device has a dual-camera array positioned on the top left side, followed by a thin magnet strip to hold and charge the SPen. Connectivity options on this tablet include 5G and 4G LTE (optional) as well as Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. Onboard sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, a hall sensor, under-display fingerprint sensor and more.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ comes with a 12.4-inch WQXGA+ (2,800x1,752 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 266ppi pixel density up to 120Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the screen size and AMOLED display, this Samsung tablet is offering immersive viewing experience than past tablet model. The display ensures vivid and dynamic viewing experience, while reviewing this Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+, the colors came out good on the screen. The touch and SPen experience on screen was smooth. I have no complaints on the display front. SPen enables an experience not possible in the budget tablets. Thanks to the quad speakers, I can say this tablet is great for watching movies, YouTube and listening to music. I watched TATA IPL 2022 on, movies and web series OTT platforms including, ZEE5, Amazon Prime and Netflix and the experience was amazing. It delivers entertaining and productive experience.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 13MP primary sensor and a 6MP ultra-wide shooter. The front houses the 12-megapixel selfie sensor for video calls and selfies. In terms of performance, both rear and front camera did a good job during video chats and online meetings under good light conditions. The image quality and colors came out pretty decent on this tablet. Overall, the experience was up to the mark.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM. It Android 12 and is powered by a 10,090mAh battery. While doing multiple tasks, including video streaming and playing games like games or switching between the apps, this device didn't lag and worked smoothly. The overall viewing and gaming experience was fine and lag-free. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, enhanced the performance of the tablet and you might get uninterrupted gaming.
In terms of battery performance, this Samsung tablet comes with a massive 10,090mAh battery and with Super Fast Charging 2.0 (up to 45W) support which ensures that you can do your work for hours without worrying about frequent charging. On normal usage, this device lasted for more than a day on a single charge. However, the battery of Galaxy Tab S8+ drained quickly on heavy usage with minor heating issues.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 verdict: Available at a starting price of 74,999, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+, the middle model of the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, is offering flagship experience in the premium Android tablet segment. The Galaxy Tab S8+ will help you stay productive, creative and it can be a great choice for youngsters and Gen Z.
