After successfully launching Galaxy Tab A7 last year in India, the company now comes with a lighter model - Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. We reviewed the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite (3GB+32GB) Gray variant for more than two weeks and here's what I have to say about this device.
Available at a starting price of Rs 11,999, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite tablet at this price point from a brand like Samsung ensures immediate attraction from potential buyers in India, especially if you're a student. The major USP of the device is that it is also backed by powerful features. This newly launched Galaxy Tab A7 is designed in such a way that even after playing games, watching web series, and doing multiple task, the tablet kept working smoothly and it was a lag-free experience.
This new design might attract students looking to buy a tablet in a budget range. In terms of design and build, the good thing is that the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is an extremely lightweight tablet, easy to carry and one can hold it in hands for long hours comfortably. It measures 212.50 x 124.70 x 8.00 mm and weighs 366.00 grams. The back panel looks beautiful and shiny as well.
Overall, this tablet has ticked many right boxes in terms of design under the affordable category.
On the right side of the tablet, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite houses a power button and the volume rockers and on the left edge, you will find a dedicated space for a SIM tray. At the bottom, the device features Type-C USB charging port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Dolby Atmos loudspeaker which is loud and worked very well during the review period. Connectivity options on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite include USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, and Wi-Fi Direct. Sensors on the tablet include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and compass/ magnetometer.
The tablet sports a 2MP front camera which is quite good for your video calls, office meeting, and if you're catching up with friends during the lockdown. Cameras are definitely not a primary focus in tablet devices, but the 8MP rear camera in Tab A7 Lite captured some good pictures.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite comes with a large immersive display. It features an 8.70-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1340x800 pixels. There's a punch-hole camera in the top centre of the display. The screen size is good and comfortable. While reviewing this device, the colours came out good on the screen. It was easy to easy use.
More importantly, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is backed by a powerful MediaTek Helio P22T (MT8768T) processor which makes the experience of working on it quite smooth. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite runs One UI Core 3.1 is based on Android 11 and packs 32GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 1000GB). While playing games like Garena Free Fire and other games and performing regular tasks like switching between the apps, this device didn't lag and worked smoothly. The overall viewing and gaming experience was fine and lag-free.
Items of battery performance, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite comes with a massive 5100mAh battery which ensures that you can do your work for hours without worrying about frequent charging. On less than normal usage, this galaxy tablet lasted for more than a day on a single charge. However, the battery of Galaxy Tab A7 Lite drained very fast on heavy usage.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite verdict: Available at a starting price of 11,999, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is designed to meet the demands of budget tablet users in India, especially students. This newly launched tablet from Samsung -- available at an affordable cost - not a premium device but it is a good performer and it still offers many features and a decent price range.
