Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro review: After successfully launching the Galaxy Buds Live last year in India, the South Korean tech giant Samsung recently launched its successor Galaxy Buds Pro in an order to compete with arch-rival Apple's AirPods Pro in the premium TWS or True Wireless Stereo earphone segment. There's no doubt Samsung has done phenomenally well in the last few years when we specially talk about smartphone accessories -- wearable bands and TWS devices.

Launched at Rs 15,990 in India, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is available in three colour options -- Phantom Violet, Phantom Black, Phantom Silver. I used the Phantom Violet colour for more than two weeks and here are my views about this newly launched TWS earphone. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is equipped with AKG's sound expertise with 2-way speakers (11mm woofer + 6.5mm tweeter), Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), wireless charging, and many more premium features.

When it comes to the design, specifications and features of Galaxy Buds Pro, I found that Buds Pro are lighter, comfortable for your ears especially when we compare it with Galaxy Buds Live. In terms of design, well, both the charging case and the earbuds will justify the pricing. It looks premium, beautiful in-ear design, very light, easy-to-carry, and looks amazing on the ears. One can easily fall in love with both a charging case and earbuds.

The earbuds measure 19.5x20.5x20.8, whereas the charging case measures 50x50.2x27.8 mm. The total weight of the earbuds is 6.3 grams and the charging case weighs 44.9 grams. Overall, the design of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is pretty impressive, or I can say beautiful a perfect competition for Apple indeed. The earbuds can be easily used while wearing a mask, helmet or performing any physical task.

Coming back to features, other than active noise cancellation (ANC) and Ambient Sound, the Galaxy Buds Pro are equipped with multiple features like switching between active noise cancellation level from high to low, Block touches (which worked well),  multiple equaliser options like soft, bass boost, normal, dynamic, clear, and treble boost. I tried in every single mode mentioned above and trust it was an amazing experience, I personally liked the treble boost mode. Thanks to the multiple equaliser options, the audio experience was the pro level.

The Galaxy Buds Pro is compatible with both iOS and Android devices I used this earbud on the Samsung Galaxy phone and on MacBook Air. It was easy to connect, but I must say this -- the Galaxy Buds Pro worked best with Samsung smartphones. The earbuds use Bluetooth 5.0 to connect to a smart device. To take your listening experience to the next new level, the best way is to download the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app.

Once I opened the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app while using the Buds Pro, I was quickly able to control the ANC feature and switch between equalisers. With ANC mode on, you will witness some next-level listening experience. Whether you're in the market, travelling in a metro or any other place, it doesn't matter, you will have a really good ANC experience. While listening to music, especially songs like 'Addicted' by Enrique Iglesia, 'Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli' by Manna Dey and 'Thunder" by Imagine Dragons, the overall experience was, balanced, good and loud.

Another amazing feature of the Galaxy Buds Pro is it comes with 3 mics (2 outer + 1 inner) and Voice Pickup Unit, to make sure people are listening to you as clear as possible. While playing games, taking and receiving calls and watching movies and series such as 'Friends' and 'Dark' the buds didn't disappoint at all. It worked perfectly fine. The performance was up to the mark.

One of the major USP of the device is its long-lasting battery life also a small light on the front of the charging case will give you a rough idea of the battery level and status of the earbuds. The device supports up to eight hours of playback and the charging case allows you to enjoy an additional 28 hour over multiple charges.

While taking calls, listening to music for long hours, playing games and watching series on Netflix, it worked perfectly fine. While making and receiving voice, video calls, we faced no issues with voice quality. The device gives you more than one hour of playtime, The Galaxy Buds Pro also comes with wireless charging and five-minute quick charging. The Galaxy Buds Pro comes with 61 mAh (earbuds), 472 mAh (charging case) large battery capacity and provides a good day-long total battery life. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro worked for around eight hours on a single full charge with ANC enabled much of the time.  The earbuds are also IPX7 waterproofing resistant.

Verdict: Thel Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro might be expensive, but I feel it is top class premium and decent earbuds which compete directly against the Apple AirPods Pro and Jabra Elite 85t and Sony WF-1000XM3 – all of which also comes with an Active Noise Cancellation feature. Overall, Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro has a beautiful and unique design, good battery life and impressive sound performance.
