This time for dominance in broadband space. Even the public sector provider BSNL has joined the battle. Ahead of the formal rollout of Jio GigaFiber, which is touted to be another disruptor after Jio, other players have revised their plans while some are on an expansion spree. Take a look at what broadband players are offering to subscribers right now:
Jio GigaFiber
Reliance Jio GigaFiber is currently offering a preview offer with high-speed internet up to 100Mbps for 90 days along with a monthly data quota of 100 GB and a complimentary access to a host of Jio's premium apps. Once a subscriber consumes 100 GB quota, s/he can continue to enjoy the high-speed internet services by performing a complementary data top-up of 40 GB via MyJio App or through Jio.com.
Jio GigaFiber is expected to offer unlimited broadband plans starting at Rs 500 along with a host of other facilities.
Installation charges: No installation charges but a refundable security deposit of Rs 4,500 taken for the ONT device (GigaHub Home Gateway). This amount needs to be paid through Debit card, Credit Card, Jio Money or PayTM.
Tata Sky Broadband
DTH Service provider Tata Sky has launched its internet services in 12 cities of the country ahead of the Reliance Jio GigaFiber rollout. These cities are: Mumbai, Thane, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Pune, Bhopal, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Mira Bhayandar.
Tata Sky is offering broadband services in one, three, five, nine and 12-month packages. The newly launched broadband service will offer unlimited data plans of 5Mbps, 10Mbps, 30Mbps, 50Mbps, and 100Mbps speeds priced at Rs. 999, Rs. 1,150, Rs. 1,500, Rs. 1,800, and Rs. 2,500 respectively. There is also a Rs 999 plan for 60 GB data and Rs 1250 plan for 125 GB data. So the cheapest plan offered by Tata Sky is of Rs 999 at 5 Mbps speed.
Installation charge: Rs 1200.
Airtel Broadband
In the wake of impending Jio GigaFiber launch, Airtel has started its unlimited broadband data offering in more cities.
In Delhi, Airtel's cheapest unlimited plan starts at Rs 799 and it comes bundled with 100 GB data at 40 Mbps speed. Other Airtel Broadband plans start at Rs 999, Rs 1299, Rs 1999 and Rs 2199 providing 250 GB, 500 GB, unlimited GB and 1200 GB data respectively at speeds up to 100-300 Mbps. All these plans come with unlimited local and STD call. On Rs 799 plan, 500 GB bonus data is available till October 31, 2018. On other plans, bonus data available is 1000 GB each during the period.
In Mumbai, the unlimited data plans are available in Rs 699 to Rs 1999 plan range. The broadband plans are slightly different in other cities. (Check official website: https://www.airtel.in/broadband/delhi
Installation charge: Airtel is providing free Router and also Amazon Prime subscription.
BSNL broadband plan
The Public Sector telco has revised its Rs 699 plan to take on Jio. The plan will now provide 700 GB data at 20 Mbps speed. After the data limit is exhausted, the speed will be reduced to 2 Mbps. It also comes with free local and STD calling on any network in India.
Security deposit: BSNL subscriber needs to pay one months' fee as the security deposit in addition to the monthly charges.
