Days after Realme unveiled the first quad camera setup smartphone for less than 10,000 in India, its domestic rival Xiaomi is set to take the battle to next level, by offering a 48MP rear camera under the same price point. The camera will be introduced with the Redmi Note 8 series, confirmed to be unveiled in China on August 29. The series includes two smartphones - the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro - both to be brought to India in the coming weeks. While Xiaomi had already confirmed the launch date of the devices, it has now also confirmed the specs and price of the new smartphones.
The Redmi Note 8 will be a major upgrade on the Redmi Note 7, the company has confirmed and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor which has also been used on the recently launched Xiaomi Mi A3 Android One smartphone. The Redmi Note 7 comes with Snapdragon 660 processor.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has also confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 will come with a triple rear camera module with a primary 48MP sensor, a secondary Super Wide Angle and a third Depth of Field lens. The smartphone is also confirmed to pack a 4500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. However, you might get a 10W charger inside the box.

On the front, you might get Dot drop notch on the Redmi Note 8 which offers a better screen-to-body ratio. Several leaks have claimed that the phone will be protected by the Gorilla Glass 5, which was also used on the Redmi Note 7 series. The Redmi Note 8 price will be similar to the China price of the Redmi Note 7, the company has said. This means that the Redmi Note 8 is likely to be priced under 1000 Yuan or under Rs 10,000. The Redmi Note 7 sells for Rs 9,999 in India.
Meanwhile, the company has also confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro would come with a 64MP primary camera. This would put it in direct competition against Realme's 64MP camera smartphone which is yet to be launched by the company. Realme has confirmed that it will arrive in India before Diwali.
