It's no secret that Realme was working on a 64-megapixel camera smartphone. In fact, Realme CEO Madhva Sheth has shared multiple pictures clicked by this camera on social media platforms. However, the Chinese manufacturer was silent on the availability of this sensor. Well, the wait is about to end as Realme is set to showcase the world's first 64MP camera smartphone in India on August 8. The camera will be unveiled at a 'camera innovation' event scheduled for August 8 in New Delhi. The event will start at around 4:30 pm and live streaming of the same should be available on YouTube and the company's website.

With this, the company is also set to move beyond the dual rear camera setup for the first time. The new smartphone will have four cameras at the back as shown in the image shared by Realme. It is still unclear which smartphone will sport this new camera and from when it will be available. There is a chance that the new camera setup might make its debut on the 'X' series but no official word has been made on it.

But, the company has confirmed that India would be the first market to get this 64-megapixel camera smartphone. Last month, the company had shared a teaser image of the phone Weibo. This is also the first camera to sport Samsung's new 64-megapixel ISOCELL GW1. 

"Get ready to witness some of the world’s first in smartphone camera technology at the #realme camera innovation event. Stay Tuned as we #LeapToQuadCamera and reveal the world’s first 64MP Quad Camera technology on a smartphone," the company said in a tweet on Friday afternoon. 

Interestingly, Realme's domestic rival Xiaomi is also working on a 64MP camera smartphone and had recently confirmed the same through a teaser. Redmi had shared a sample image clicked from this phone on Weibo. The company had not announced when the phone will be launched or whether it will be available in India. Realme, which is just one year old, has risen among the top ten smartphone players worldwide as it grew 848 per cent year-on-year, according to Counterpoint. The 64MP sensor takes advantage of Tetracell technology to merge four pixels into one to give high-quality images in all light conditions, according to Samsung.
