OnePlus Open 2: Second-gen foldable smartphone to receive huge upgrades in battery, cameras - Details
The OnePlus Open was released last year in two shade variants Emerald Dusk with a matte glass layout and Vulture Black with a leather-like texture.
OnePlus Open 2: OnePlus is all geared to widen its foldable handset range with the expected release of the Open 2 - which might take place next year. As per the latest reports, the new foldable device will be equipped with a major upgrade, which includes a 6,000 mAh battery, which is a huge unit compared to the first-generation foldable. The recent leak has also highlighted the update for the Oppo Find N5.
Nevertheless, since the collaboration of OnePlus and Oppo, the two devices have largely emulated each other, with Oppo targeting the Chinese market and OnePlus focusing on the worldwide market. Oppo’s Find N3 foldable handset was launched as OnePlus Open in the global market. Hence, this new foldable device from Oppo, the Find N5, might be unveiled as the OnePlus Open 2 outside China. Also, OnePlus Open 2 is predicted to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2025 and it may be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
Reports suggest that the new battery might be the outcome of OnePlus's new Glacier Battery technology, which was launched by the firm recently in China in association with CATL. The Glacier Battery technology provides silicon-based batteries that are more competent, resilient, and of more capacity in the same physical size. The China-only OnePlus Ace 3 Pro has been the first handset to have this technology packed with a massive 6,100 mAh battery.
If sources are to be believed, the forthcoming OnePlus Open 2 might have strong competition with other high-end phones such as the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and the Honor Magic V3 which are also loaded with Si/Co batteries with 5,700 mAh and 5,150 mAh battery capacity respectively.
The OnePlus Open was released last year in two shade variants Emerald Dusk with a matte glass layout and Vulture Black with a leather-like texture. It has a 6.31-inch external display screen and a 7.82-inch inner display. Both displays are supported by LTPO 3.0 technology featuring a refresh rate of 120Hz. The OnePlus Open features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It has a Hasselblad-tuned triple rear camera structure consisting of a 64MP telephoto sensor, 48MP primary camera, and 48MP ultra-wide shooter. At present, the OnePlus Open is priced at Rs 1,39,999 in India for the 16GB + 512GB version.
