I used the Black Edition variant for a few days and here are my views about the top-class TWS earphones from Nothing brand. When it comes to the design, specifications, and features of Nothing ear (1), I felt that this TWS from Nothing is lighter, comfortable for your ears especially when we compare it with OnePlus Buds Pro and Galaxy Buds Pro. Honestly, if you see the design, both the charging case and the earbuds will justify the pricing. It looks premium, beautiful in-ear design, is very light, easy-to-carry, and looks amazing on the ears. You will love the new transparent design of both a charging case and earbuds. I must say that the earbuds live up to all their hype. The Nothing ear (1) Black Edition has ticked all the right boxes here.
For pairing and connectivity, you will see a button on the right side of the case, next to the USB Type-C port. When you press and hold the button for a few seconds, a white blinking light will appear. Thereafter the connection will be seamless. The case is square-shaped and it charges via USB-C or Qi wireless charging. The case and earphones are black instead of white. Also, If you find trouble identifying between the left and right earbuds, there’s white and red dots respectively for easy identification. Nothing ear (1) Black Edition are extremely light in weight (4.7 grams each) and come with three different sizes of silicone ear tips for the perfect fit. Also, Nothing ear (1) comes with an ‘In-Ear Detection’ mode. When you take out an earbud, and the music will instantly pause.
In terms of specifications, Nothing ear (1) Black Edition uses Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to capture and cancel background noise. Two modes allow you to easily adjust levels. You can use Light mode for moderate noise cancellation and Maximum mode for noisier environments, like public places, while traveling in the metro and in the office. Transparency mode will help when you want the background noise too while using the buds with a tap-and-hold gesture on the stem. Another USP of this device is that it also cancels out background noise when using their microphones to make calls.
Clear Voice Technology was specially developed for ear (1) by the brand to reduce distractive background noise, like the wind. And I can say that these earbuds offer an immersive listening experience and various modes work excellently. Nothing ear (1) is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. I used these earbuds on the Apple iPhone 13 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A52s, and on MacBook Air. It was easy to connect. With ANC mode on, you will witness some next-level listening experience. I was listening to the 'We Rollin' song by Subh and 'Wake me up" by Avicii on repeat mode and watched web series on the Nothing ear (1). I really liked the music while using these buds and the overall experience was excellent.
While taking calls or watching movies for long hours and playing games such as Garena Free Fire and Battlegrounds Mobile India, I felt that audio performance was up to the mark. The battery life of the earbuds is nice. If you don't use ANC, it is likely to last over a day but if use ANC, it will probably last around a day. The ear (1) features Bluetooth 5.2 and it is IPX4 water-resistant, which allows the device to survive sweat and light splashes.
Verdict: Priced at Rs 6,999, the Nothing ear (1) Black edition earbuds are powerful and offer a great listening experience. The new transparent design of these earbuds will attract young buyers. Overall, the Nothing ear (1) can be a perfect choice for those who are looking for premium TWS earphones in Rs 10K category.
