How WhatsApp Dark Mode works?

WABetaInfo claims that the dark mode or dark theme option will appear in the Chats section of the app’s Settings menu. The feature essentially gives users an option to save battery by switching to a dark background. It has been reported that WhatsApp will give four options to users under its Dark Theme.

The first option will of Light Theme which is the usual white theme that you are used to seeing. The Dark Theme option will activate the Dark Mode. The third option will be System Default theme option that will apply the mode as per the theme on your smartphone.

The fourth and last option will be of 'Set by Battery Saver'. This option will switch between the modes depending on your battery. However, it is likely to be available only on Android 9 and older versions.

As the feature has already been introduced on the beta version, you can expect the public roll out soon - hopefully in the first half of 2020. However, there is no word on the availability of the feature on the iOS beta app.
