Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds review: TWS or earbuds have become so important all of a sudden. Even the most expensive pair of headphones don’t come close to a good pair of earbuds when it comes to comfort and ease of usage. Whenever there is a discussion around the best TWS, the obvious names that come to mind are Apple, Sony, Bose and Samsung. One manufacturer which usually flies under the radar despite some really good products in its portfolio is Jabra.
Earlier this year, the company launched its new pair of TWS – Jabra Elite Active 75t, which a few weeks back got a wireless charging model – and we are all set to review it today. Priced at Rs 17,999, the earbuds compete against Sony WF-SP 800N, Samsung Galaxy Buds Live and the Apple AirPods – all priced around the same mark. So, let’s find out where the Jabra Elite Active 75t stand.
Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds review: Design and Build
The Jabra Elite Active 75t is a compact pair of earbuds that come with rubberized coating both on the charging case as well as the earbuds. The highlight here is the unique choice of colours which make the Jabra Elite 75t really attractive. The earbuds come in navy, copper black (Amazon exclusive), titanium black, grey, sienna, and mint colours.
We had the grey colour variant which also supports wireless charging. It looks good and is well built. The ear-tips provide a snug fit and the best part is that the earbuds don’t come off your ears that easily. They are also extremely lightweight at 5 grams each. Instead of the touch controls, they are equipped with tactile push buttons. Personally, I can take them any day as it reduces the unwanted touches.
The charging case is also very small with Jabra branding and Type-C using charging port on it. There is also a LED light which indicates the charging levels.
Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds review: Audio Performance
The Jabra earbuds lag slightly behind in terms of what they offer on the audio front. There is no support for premium audio formats like LDAC. What you get at best are advance audio codec (AAC) and sub-band codec. Also, there is no Active Noise Cancellation as offered by both Samsung and Sony offerings. In place of that, Jabra uses a 4-microphone technology which it claims can deliver ‘crystal-clear calls in every environment’.
The absence of high-quality codecs doesn’t make much difference to your listening experience, especially while streaming songs from usual apps. I could feel the clear separation between vocals and instruments while playing ‘Killer Queen’ while the bass wasn’t bad either in tracks like Russian Roulette and Everyday. I also listened to various podcasts and the sound quality was very consistent.
It’s only when you switch to high-res audio tracks, you really feel the need for a better codec. A normal user shouldn’t be worried about this. It’s ANC which I would have preferred, especially while listening to music or streaming video content.
The earbuds are complemented by the Jabra Sound+ smartphone app, which can be used to customize the earbuds as well as your experience. It gives comes with several presets and gives you great control over the earbuds. There is also support for voice assistants like Siri and Google Assistant.
If you usually take earbuds to workout sessions, then there is also IP57-rated durability and 2-year warranty against dust and sweat.
Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds review: Call Quality
The Jabra Elite Active 75t truly excels when it comes to call quality – an area where I have seen the most expensive TWS struggle badly. The microphones on the earbuds cancel the background noise, allowing you to attend work video calls, be part of video conferences or just have a casual conversation with friends. There is also a HearThrough Mode, which allows you to adjust the amount of outside noise you'd prefer for using them outdoors.
I was really surprised to see that there were hardly any complaints during calls. Usually, one out of three calls end up with other person complaining about voice clarity. I have faced this issue even with Sony WF-1000XM3 and Apple AirPods Pro. But, not the Jabra Elite 75t.
Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds review: Battery Life
The Elite Active 75T comes with a decent battery life of 7.5 hours on earbuds and impressive additional 28 hours on the charging case. This means you don’t need to charge the earbuds for at least two days even if you keep using them through the two days (excluding the sleep hours). In all practicality, they should easily last for a week on a single charge.
As mentioned before, the Jabra earbuds come with USB-C charging port which allows you to charge them from phone’s cable as well. The Elite Active 75t also supports fast-charge. The company claims to deliver 60 minutes of power from 15 minutes of charging.
A feature that very talk about but can be a real saver at times, is wireless charging. The earbuds are capable of charging wirelessly with any Qi charger. So, let’s say you forget the charging cable at home or there is a power cut (things you need to consider while living in UP), you can always use the wireless charger to juice up the device.
Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds review: Should You Buy?
To answer this question, you need ask yourself why exactly do you want to buy a new TWS! If it’s only for listening to music them, there are several options in the market that you can turn to. But, if you are a working professional who is looking for a reliable pair of TWS that remains consistent during work calls or otherwise, look no further.
The Jabra Elite Active 75t ticks all the boxes, almost. They are very light, sound good and have an excellent battery life. The only boxes that Jabra failed to tick are of ANC and high-res codecs.
